personality. Charlemeaux is a very perceptive man, able to differentiate people by their gait, voice and behavior.
He is hard on people but harder on himself, the circumstances of his upbringing forcing him to do so.
Nevertheless staying polite in good company, he is agreeable to be around, although peculiar in the way he never look anyone in the eyes, instead glancing around constantly in whatever place he's in.
He's known to leave places suddenly, after apologizing. He never explains why.

03. THE STORY YOU'VE HEARD

Just short of 80 years old, Charlemeaux has lived wildly different lives over the course of his existence, although the first 60 were dedicated to being a proper citizen of Ishgard and following the path laid out for him by his parents.
Minor noble in the city, he has demonstrated a fervor for Halone loudly commended by his entourage, and a taste for perfection in the tiniest details.He has tried very diligently to present to the outside world as flawless a face as he could muster, letting nothing of the horror inside his house show.
Fate works in cruel ways nonetheless, and his preference for men (which is frowned upon on a house heir) didn't help in the mix. But no matter how many times he lied to himself, tried to forget and begged for forgiveness from the ones he thought would grant it in the house of the goddess, the fire burning inside him only grew larger, the taste for freedom expanded, until he decided at the age of 60 that enough was enough.
He was sick of the charade, sick of keeping up false pretenses for a deity he didn’t love. Sick of having to bear a curse's burden he never asked for. No reason good enough could keep him in Ishgard, he wanted to be free to pursue wanderlust, to see everything there is to see. Unimpeded.
Charlemeaux devoted himself body and soul to dancing, a passion of his that he never indulged in before that. 10 years were spent studying it, and another 10 to perfect and refine it. His efforts and talent made him widely known as a master in the art. Still obsessed with perfection in every thing though, almost every student that tried to ask him for mentorship was shown the door. Lacking the fire, the hunger to truly understand how to perform as he did.

this truth, i do not wish to divulge.

It's been there, for so many years now.It never gets tired. It never sleeps. Never rests.Liked to stand in the corner of my room when i was trying to sleep, endlessly smiling the most horrifying grin i have ever seen.What my parents awoke should have stayed where it was.Because of it, i can't discern people's faces as well as i used to. I only see stretched agony, like paintings made by a twisted artist.I thought i locked it in the old estate, that it would stay there, hidden from the world.But it found a way out.Now it's stalking me, ever so slowly. It crosses oceans, mountains, weathers, just to get to me.I don't want to know what it will do to me if i get caught. I've seen what it does to others.

Charlemeaux, although constantly traveling, likes to talk about his homeland with other Ishgard natives around a good glass of wine.
He might get up and leave suddenly, but he'll try to stay as much he can.
